: Reading all of the novels, novellas, etc. that are nominated for Hugo's in time to submit my votes this year is unlikely for a slow-poke reader like myself. I think it would be really nice if there were a collection of audio CD's of the nominated stories so that I could listen in the car on my communte to work. The timeframe is probably prohibitive for a traditional CD production, but a publisher could speed up the process by using a setup like Audible.com, where customers download audio files to burn onto CD themselves. That way, actually recording the voice actors and editing is almost the only time needed for actual production. It saves the publisher time and money, I suspect, and saves the customer time. The publisher and licensers could make a nice bit of profit by making a Hugo nominees collection available to consumers before the WorldCon. I think that con-goers and non-con-goers alike would be interested. And for those of us who want to vote, it could make the process of inhaling literature quite a bit quicker.
: Can anyone out there make this happen?
: (P.S. Audible.com is associated with Amazon.com and can be reached through Amazon.com's "Audio Downloads" category under Books. Be careful with installing the software - really do close all other programs first.)
