Hi, I'm also going alone to the WorldCon (first one), I don't live in Toronto though...I'm Swedish, so I know absolutely nothing about the town (apart from what I've read on-line).
Ganging up sounds like a nice idea, and I wouldn't mind getting help to find my way around town, but early for me would be on the 27th.
