: Torcon 3 is pleased to announce the following short term membership promotion.
: For a limited time, you can save on the purchase of your attending membership for Torcon 3 if you sign up a friend at the same time.
: From now until May 31, 2003, when one person purchases an attending membership, and they sign up a second, or more, persons for attending memberships at the same time, all of those people will receive a US$20 or Cdn$30 discount off of the price of their memberships.
: Restrictions: 1) The first person may currently be a supporting member who is upgrading to attending membership, but the other person(s) must be brand new members.. not previously supporting members.
: 2) the memberships must be submitted at the same time.... not a couple of days apart
: This special promotion is in effect from May 16 to May 31. All memberships received online at www.torcon3.on.ca between those dates, and received in the mail with postmarks between those dates, will receive the special discount (if they qualify) regardless of whether they mention the promotion on their registration form.

: As a boost to tourism, the Ontario government has announced that Provincial Sales Tax will not be charged on accommodations in the province during the period up to and including September 30, 2003. This means that the 5% PST portion of the taxes will not be charged on members' hotel bills, thereby decreasing the cost of attending the convention.
: The PST has also been waived on admission charges during that period. Torcon 3's membership fees do not include any PST so there is no savings there for members. However, anyone wishing to go to movies, live theatre, baseball games, etc while visiting in Toronto will find their admission to be less expensive by the amount of the PST.
