Torcon 3 has reserved 1,500 hotel rooms and rented the Metro Toronto Convention Centre's (MTCC) North Building. Click the MTCC's logo for the MTCC's description of itself.

On the Reserve Your Room page is the link to the Torcon 3 Housing Bureau's online hotel room reservation page. You wil see the special Torcon 3 room rates there.

Torcon 3 hotels' room information and rates are published as the Torcon 3 Housing Information form included in Progress Report 4. This form in PDF format also is online on the Reserve Your Room page.

You need not reserve Your room online. You can complete the Torcon 3 Housing Information form and either mail it or fax it to the Torcon 3 Housing Bureau.

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is a Barrier Free Environment, for those with physical challenges. It has its own inventory of six wheel chairs, reserved parking, a portable lectern designed for physically-challenged speakers, and hydraulic wheel chair lifts. The MTCC has a state-of-the-art theatre that seats 1,330, 14,000 square feet of entrance and registration space, 4 entrances, 24 hour security, electronic signage, 85,000 square feet of carpeted pre-function space. The 3 exhibit halls total 200,000 square feet of column free exhibit space serviced by 10 loading docks and 3 freight elevators. At the moment the convention has 2 of the 3 exhibit halls booked each being 67,000 & 60,000 square feet when divided. This information applies to the north side of the  Convention Centre. There is also a south section that is not being used by Torcon 3. The convention center is mostly a “free to work” environment.

The main convention centre hotel is the Fairmont Royal York. In 1973, the entire Worldcon was held within the Royal York. When the hotel was first opened in 1929, it was considered a self-contained city with 1,048 rooms, a 12 bed hospital, a library, its own newspaper, a golf course, and a bank. Shortly after opening, an addition with more rooms was added to meet the demand for this historical hotel. All open parties are slated for the Royal York as well as most evening programming (obvious exceptions will be the Hugos and Masquerade). We have blocked 900 rooms on our peak nights. All rooms are equipped with in-room temperature control, voice mail, iron & ironing board, coffee maker, bathrobe, cable TV, On Command movies & video games. Most also are business equipped with a desk, office supplies, portable phone, and data port located on the desk The hotel is located a block away from the Convention Centre and is a 5 minute walk if you hit all the pedestrian lights.

The Crowne Plaza Toronto Centre hotel is attached to the Convention Centre, so you need not go outside to reach daily programming held at the Convention Centre. We have a 300 rooms blocked on our peak nights. The hotel’s Accolade restaurant has been ranked among Toronto’s Top 10 Dining Rooms by Toronto Life Magazine and by the Toronto Globe & Mail newspaper.  


Renaissance Toronto Hotel at SkyDome

The Renaissance Toronto Hotel at SkyDome (premier brand of the Marriott portfolio) is located on the opposite side to the Convention Centre to the Crowne Plaza and Royal York. It is not attached to the Convention Centre but is part of the SkyDome where the Toronto Blue Jays play their home games. We have a couple hundred rooms blocked on our peak nights. Guest rooms at the hotel are on average 10-15 per cent larger than the average hotel room. None of the blocked rooms overlook the playing field: if you are interested in a room that does over look the playing field, please let the convention know and we can arrange it. The hotel has a reception room and owns 4 private Sky Boxes that overlook the playing field. Interested parties who might want to plan a special event using these facilities during the con should contact the convention chair. While August 29 through 31 the Jays are on the road, at home in the SkyDome on Sept. 1st, 3rd and 4th the Jays host the New York Yankees..

Located in the heart of Toronto's theatre and club district, just down the street from the Princess of Wales and Royal Alexandra theatres, the Holiday Inn on King is located two convenient blocks north of the convention centre. Among its many features is a rooftop pool (with a great view) and a virtual reality entertainment centre. (Their web site is pretty good too.)
